IVF Funding Would Bring Hope to Infertility Patients

For April Hoyt, birth is a passion. The pregnancy coach and soon-to-be midwife has tried to become pregnant  since she was 1. Now, 15 years later Hoyt has yet to conceive a child and, like the one in six Canadian couples that suffer from infertility,  she’s looking for help. Doctors have said her best chance of becoming pregnant is in vitro fertilization (IVF) — a costly procedure in which a controlled number of embryos are implanted into a uterus. “There are two ways we can get in vitro — to either win a lottery or if the Ontario government decides to fund it.”
