The Medical Laboratory Assistant / Clinic Assistant contributes to the effective operation of ONE Fertility performing duties in every area of ONE Fertility, including lab, administration, and nursing. The Medical Laboratory Assistant/Clinic Assistant will work autonomously collecting blood from patients, carrying out routine laboratory procedures in the blood analysis lab as well as assisting with the daily operations of the clinic.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Collect blood from patients, log patient samples and prepare them for testing
    • Set up medical laboratory equipment and conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
    • Tubes management which includes set up of procedure room, assisting physician during oocyte retrieval and clean up procedure room after oocyte retrieval
    • Screening patients
    • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patient/families and interdisciplinary colleagues
    • Act as an effective team member by sharing opinions, debating issues and aligning personal objectives with those of the team
    • Report any critical incident in a timely fashion to the Operations Manager and participate in continuous quality assessment and risk management on an ongoing basis
    • Work toward the ultimate goal of attaining the highest possible patient satisfaction
    • Cleaning and sterilizing medical and laboratory equipment, and insuring overall cleanliness of the clinic
    • Assisting with the preparation of patient information packages, laboratory requisitions, filing of patient reports and any other general office duties as required
    • Cleaning examination rooms, procedure rooms and collection rooms in between patients
    • Performing laundry duties, including washing and folding linens and uniforms
    • Stocking examination rooms with supplies
    • Other duties as required


    • Minimum of Grade 12 diploma is essential
    • Has completed a course in Phlebotomy/Medical Laboratory Assistant program
    • Previous experience in a medical setting preferred
    • Familiarization with computers required
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team
    • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to meet workload demands
